Training for Greenhouse Workers

This is a practical, hands-on training program for Greenhouse Workers.

Greenhouse workers load and unload all the plants in a commercial greenhouse at every stage of growth; from sticking or seeding to sales.

If they know what to look for, and what actions to take, they can become a frontline defense against growing problems that can lead to substantial losses.

The program aims to train and motivate participants to find and report potential growing problems as a routine part of their jobs.

The program entails 10 hours of instruction for groups of up to 10 participants over a three week period and covers five main topic areas:

  1. Watering - minimize stress on plants from under-watering

  2. Pests - Identify and report pest outbreaks

  3. Diseases - Identify and report disease outbreaks

  4. Weeds - Identify and remove weeds

  5. Sanitation - Learn and apply basic sanitation procedures
