Our training equips your selected Junior Growers to become scouts with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles. 

 

Learning when and where to scout, and for what, is the main focus of our training program.  That sounds easy, but every pest and disease has its own rhythm.  And, more importantly, every greenhouse is unique.

So the types of pests and diseases and when we encounter them during the growing season vary alot from greenhouse to greenhouse.

Key parts of our training program include:

Pest and disease identification. Participants will learn to accurately identify the sources of crop damage and take the right actions right away.

Monitoring Techniques.   We focus on systematic scouting and data collection procedures and how to accurately and concisely record and report what they find. 

​

Scouting tools.  We cover the tools needed to scout for the various types of pests and diseases; like sticky cards for flying insects and simple tips like using a sheet of white paper on a clipboard to identify pests like thrips.  We also provide a 10X magnifying glass for all trainees.

Good Record Keeping, Communication and Teamwork.  to ensure your greenhouse can handle crop problems in future seasons and avoid repeating costly mistakes.
