We serve commercial greenhouses
in the Eastern Fraser Valley
Hello
I am Ester McPherson, Principal Grower and Co-Founder of Effective Propagation and Training. I am an experienced head propagation grower with a strong background in project and program management as well as rural agricultural development.

For me the excitement is growing high quality crops that make a difference in people's lives. I love growing plants!
Together with my associates we can provide the experienced help you need in propagation and other areas of commercial greenhouse operations. I hope that our company gets the opportunity to work with your Growers. . . .

My Story

I am an Agronomic Engineer trained in El Salvador with scholarships at the University of Carbondale and later the University of South Carolina. In El Salvador I gained my bachelor's degree from The Technical University of Latin America. I started my career working for FIAES (Environmental Investment Fund of El Salvador) on a wide range of rural agricultural projects including forestry nurseries, ground water protection, soil conservation and management of coastal marine protected areas including turtle hatcheries and mangroves conservation.
Five years later I joined the Canadian Hunger Foundation (CHF) as National Director for El Salvador. My new job focused on training and development of rural agricultural cooperatives and the overall management of the resulting projects and programs. I am proud to say that our projects made a real and positive difference to the lives of many people in my country.

During my tenure at CHF I had the opportunity to visit Canada. These visits opened my eyes to the tremendous opportunities that Canada can offer to hard working, qualified immigrants.
So I decided to emigrate to Canada!
I started my career in Canada by volunteering for the Suzuki Foundation and other not-for-profit organizations. I also worked with my husband's project "The Pacific Green Energy Initiative" (focused on energy self sufficiency for B.C. from renewable sources alone).
These opportunities led to my receiving a Nesika Award from the Province of British Columbia in 2014 for my work on multi-culturalism. More than 400 people attended the fifth annual Provincial Nesika Awards event at the Science World OMNIMAX Theatre. The Nesika Awards events honoured individuals and organizations whose exceptional work helped bring British Columbia’s diverse cultures together.

But my passion is growing plants. So, when we moved to Agassiz I started work as an Assistant Grower at a large commercial greenhouse. I was promoted to Propagation Grower and later to Head Grower Propagation. A position that I thoroughly enjoyed. For various reasons I decided that I would like to expand my horizons so this year I launched Effective Propagation & Training to offer my professional knowledge, skills and training in propagation to greenhouses in our locale.

I hope I have the opportunity to work with your growers!
